Freya

Freya is a dead world of unusual nature. It’s mineral supplies were rich, and as a result of its commerce a hive was created of traders and their families. But the resources ran dry faster than they expected, and they were left with a lifeless, resourceless, world. The result today is a planet holding a single hive city and is used for trading, but a rapidly declining commerce will force them to repurpose the entire planet soon. The populace has made the best of their situation, as they have also made the planet into a bit of a tourist attraction by using the massive and lifeless surface for sporting events and games of an abnormal scale. They believe that if they work hard enough, they will be able to reclassify this world as a pleasure world, but it has a long way to go. Due to their optimistic outlook, and their gratitude toward the emperor for their well being to date, the hive city has been named “Emperor’s Grace”

The old mining tunnels webbing under the surface make this world a tactical nightmare. And within a kilometer of the city, the terrain rather suddenly becomes a matter of not just hills, but cliffs and colossal structures of stone. Outside the hive city is near impossible to traverse save the roads that were made for that exact purpose. Still, the ground outside is too unstable for large structures of any ordinary design, and marines would be advised to stay clear of drop offs, as the ground may collapse underneath their weight. The reduced gravity of this planet means that seemingly stable ground, may in fact be quite soft.
